This week's ELV scrap price · £175 / tonne Independent — we don't buy cars
About

A price checker, not a buyer.

Scrap Value Checker exists for one reason: when you're offered money for a car you're about to get rid of, you should be able to tell whether the offer is fair before you say yes.

We don't buy cars, run a yard, or take your phone number. We publish the metal price, look up what your car weighs, and do the multiplication in public.

Where the numbers come from

Two inputs, both checkable

Vehicle data comes from the DVSA's and DVLA's official records for your registration. The per-tonne rate is our own weekly reading of the UK end-of-life vehicle market, published on the prices page with the date it was set.

What we don't do

Buy cars, arrange collections, hold your details for marketing, or pass your reg to anyone without you asking us to.

How the site is funded

If you ask us to pass you to a buyer and you accept their quote, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing and it never moves the estimate.

Why a range, not a figure

Because offers genuinely vary by yard and by distance. A single exact number would be a more confident guess, not a more accurate one.

Take our number to whichever buyer you like.

That's the whole point of it. If a yard beats our estimate, take the yard's offer. And if our estimate for your car turned out to be significantly off, tell us what you were actually offered — real-world figures help us keep the tool honest for everyone.
